When are tournaments?

Tournaments typically take place on weekends. A full schedule will be provided at the start of the season.

Where do I find tournament information?

Tournament information is often not distributed by tournament directors until the Thursday evening before the tournament. Coaches will distribute this information as it becomes available.

Where are tournaments held?

Tournaments are held at various locations within the midwest region. Travel details will be communicated in advance.

What should players bring to tournaments?

Players are required to have their jerseys, shorts, and knee pads. Water and lunch/snacks are highly recommended. Concessions may or may not be provided. Blankets are often brought as player camp areas may be in hallways or gym floors.

Are parents required to travel with players?

While parent travel is not mandatory, we encourage it for younger players. You can arrange carpools to assist with transportation. All players are responsible for their transportation to practice and events.

How do play dates/tournaments work?

Most events are either "playdates" or "tournaments".

Playdates

Teams are scheduled for a set number of matches--usually in a "pool play" (group of 3-5 teams in one pool play each other) format. This event usually takes approximately four hours.

Tournaments

Teams will typically start in a "pool" of four teams. They will play all teams in that pool. Bracket play begins immediately after all pools have been completed. Seeding is determined by the win-loss record. Most tournaments are scheduled for a full day (8 am - 5 pm, give or take).

Each team usually referees at least one match (2-3 sets).

All events follow USAV rules.
